Lara Gularte, M.F.A., has received several Phelan Awards and the Anne Lillis Award for Creative Writing. Her poetry has appeared in journals such as the Santa Clara Review, Watershed, The Montserrat Review, Kaleidoscope and Art/Life and has been translated into Portuguese by the University of the Acores. Her work has been featured in the literary supplement SAAL—Suplemento Acoriano de Artes e Letras, da revista Saber/Acores and was presented at an international conference on storytelling and cultural identity in June 2005. She is an assistant poetry editor for Narrative Magazine and is the former poetry and art editor for Reed Magazine, San Jose State University’s literary journal.

Elaine Bartlett’s fiction and poetry have appeared in The Antietam Review, The South Carolina Review, and The Comstock Review, among others. Her story “Sugar, Magic, Grace” received the 2003 Yemassee prize in fiction. She is a former Poe-Faulkner Fellow at the University of Virginia, where she is now in the third year of the M.F.A. program. She is the fiction editor of the literary journal Meridian.

Claire Litton

Claire Litton has been writing since she was three years old and first held a crayon. Since then, she has gotten a degree in sociolinguistics and currently works as a professional belly dancer. She was on the TLC reality show “Honey, We’re Killing The Kids,” much to her shame, and lives in Pittsburgh, Penn. She is originally from Canada.

William Michaelian

William Michaelian grew up on a farm near a small town southeast of Fresno, Calif. He is the author of two poetry collections, Winter Poems and Another Song I Know, as well as two novels, three story collections, an autobiographical book of poetry and prose, hundreds of poems, and many essays and reviews. He lives with his wife and their family in Salem, Ore.

Simon Perchik

Simon Perchik’s poems have appeared in Partisan Review, The New Yorker, and elsewhere. His books Family of Man and Rafts are both scheduled for publication in 2007. He lives in East Hampton, N.Y.

Caitlin Schwerin

Caitlin Schwerin graduated with a B.A. in fine art from Chico State University in northern California. Her work has been exhibited widely in Chico and Sacramento, and she has donated numerous pieces to auctions for Art for AIDS, Hurricane Katrina relief, Boys & Girls Club, and the American Heart Association. Her work is acrylic, between a thick gesso textural surface, and an oil-based varnish on top. The majority of the painting portion is done with cut down, garden variety, household cleaning sponges; the rest is brush work. She describes most of her work as “fanciful, whimsical.” She was enchanted by Dr. Seuss as a kid and still enjoys capturing his essence in her work today.

Shana Youngdahl

Shana Youngdahl’s poems are forthcoming in the anthology White Ink: Poems on Mothers and Motherhood. Her work has appeared in many journals, including Shenandoah, Margie, and Paper Street. A native of Paradise, Calif., she earned her M.F.A. from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis.
